Salma holds vice mayoralty post once again striking a conspicuous success. After serving his last term as City Vice Mayor in 2013, he ran for the Mayoralty race twice in two succeeding Elections. His first two attempts didn’t succeed, but despite it, he was able to show a very competent record. Soon after, he devoted much of his time in taking good care of his ailing mother, former first lady, Melissa S. Salma, who subsequently passed away. His long break from the government service didn’t keep him away from the loud majority whose yells consistently hungers for his return.

The eldest son of former City Mayor, Baltazar Torres Salma, Vice Mayor Neil Teves Salma always has this aspiration of following his father’s footsteps even before he entered politics. He has grown to be his biggest fan, and greatest critic as well. Serving as Private Secretary, Civil Security Officer, and Protocol Officer during his father’s administration, he has already made significant contributions to our community. He extended his services to a wider scope being elected as Board of Director of the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative, District 1, comprising of the City of Tanjay, Municipality of Amlan and Pamplona. Today, as he rises back to take the lead in the Sangguniang Panlungsod, he becomes more sure of himself, taking on his duties and responsibilities with integrity, promoting transparency and accountability over public activities. His humility and good governance are the core principles he got from his father that has guided him ever since: “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Vice Mayor Neil Teves Salma further stated that his comeback doesn’t have to do with power and prestige. After all, the most important thing in our lifetime is to serve others and to always do everything that could be done, with all your mind, with all your heart, and with all your soul in it. If it fails, at least you try. You take action. You continue. You never give up, and you have all the courage to do it all again (Vanessa Bulagao Regalado)
